«Haugtussa» delves into the labyrinth of the subconscious, exploring the urges and complexities of the human mind. The narrative centers around Veslemøy, a shepherd girl, who one early morning encounters her deceased sister. She warns Veslemøy of the challenging road ahead – burdened with psychic abilities, she is condemned to see what others cannot see. Throughout the performance, Veslemøy encounters the dead and the underground, evil forces both within and outside of herself. Ane Dahl Torp and Sjur Miljeteig’s rendition of Arne Garborg’s national epic is a captivating marriage of theater and musical expression. Premiered at Det Norske Teatret in 2014, their rendition of «Haugtussa» has consistently attracted full houses both at Det Norske Teatret and on tour.
